Our values
At Love Meets Coffee CIC, our values are at the heart of everything we do.
We believe people do not always need to be fixed, changed or have all the answers.
Sometimes, they simply need a safe place to arrive, a warm drink, a little kindness, and someone willing to sit beside them.
Our invitation is simple.
Come exactly as you are.
Safety
We want people to feel emotionally and physically safe in the spaces we create.
We work with care, clear boundaries, safeguarding and respect. We understand that trust may take time, and nobody is expected to share more than they are comfortable sharing.
Compassion
We meet people with kindness rather than judgement.
Everyone carries a story we may know nothing about. A gentle word, a cup of tea, a smile or simply being present can sometimes make a meaningful difference.
Honesty
We believe in being real with one another.
We do not pretend to have every answer. We communicate openly about what we can offer, what we cannot offer, and when another organisation or professional may be better placed to help.
Belonging
Nobody should have to earn their place in the room.
Whatever your age, background, culture, ability or life experience, you are welcome. We want to create spaces where people can feel:
- I am seen.
- I am valued.
- I belong here.
Connection
Love Meets Coffee began with a simple belief: human connection matters.
Coffee, conversation, creativity, movement, music and shared moments can gently bring people together and help reduce loneliness and isolation. Sometimes connection begins with nothing more than two people sitting beside each other.
Self-acceptance
We encourage people to meet themselves with a little more gentleness.
There is no pressure to be happier, stronger, louder or different. You are allowed to arrive exactly as you are that day.
Healthy boundaries
Kindness and boundaries can sit side by side.
Healthy boundaries help protect our participants, volunteers, facilitators and community. They allow our spaces to remain respectful, sustainable and safe for everyone.
Community
We do not want to simply create something for the community. We want to grow with the community.
We listen, learn and allow the people who join us to help shape what Love Meets Coffee becomes.
Emotional integrity
We treat people's stories, emotions and experiences with care.
Our approach is informed by counselling skills and trauma-aware practice, while being clear that Love Meets Coffee is not a therapy service. Where someone needs additional support, we will gently encourage and signpost them towards appropriate services.
Hope
We believe hope does not always arrive as something big.
Sometimes hope is a chair being placed beside another chair.
- A conversation.
- A dance.
- A cup of coffee.
- Someone remembering your name.
- A moment when you realise you are not completely alone.
That is the kind of hope we want to grow.
Our promise
- We will continue to learn.
- We will make mistakes and take responsibility for them.
- We will listen.
- We will protect the dignity of the people who enter our spaces.
And we will keep trying to create small places of warmth, connection and belonging — one cup, one smile and one shared moment at a time.
